77% of Users Access Enterprise Network in Companies without a BYOD Policy

Companies are evolving their offerings to Mobile Enterprise Management solutions while BYOD policy starts shifting to Choose Your Own Device (CYOD)

More than 37% of organisations across major industry verticals in India consider mobility a top enterprise IT priority for the current fiscal year, says IDC.

At the recently held mobility conference, Shiv Putcha, IDC Associate Director, with IDC APAC's Mobility practice, said enterprise mobility is equal to life. Even in organisations with no policy defined, employees tend to access the networks. This demonstrates how embedded mobility is in today’s enterprise.

Plus, over the past 12 months, nearly all major technology vendors have made mobility one of their key focus areas, which has driven awareness and confidence across enterprises’ customer base.

With this change, all the components, including stable devices, fast and reliable networks, robust mobile security solutions and the scalable applications required for companies to develop and support complex enterprise mobility solutions, are now in place.

Productivity makes the case for mobility
Mobility is also the new entrant in third platform technology that makes Generation Y more productive and happy, says Vijay Sethi, CIO of Hero MotoCorp. ‘We exploit mobility purely for productivity gains,’ says Sethi. ‘With our mobility solutions, we enabled all our approvals mobile based’, adds Sethi.

While talking about strategies for organisations to revamp their mobility plan, Shiv Putcha also talked about how organisations have moved from mobile device management (MDM) to mobile enterprise management (MEM), and also made the shift from customer first to mobile first.

The CIO of Hero MotoCorp is bullish on the potential of smart devices, with their utility being extended to conducting video conferences. Hero MotoCorp is already leveraging these smart devices like tablets for video conferences and the company has its corporate app store already, adds Vijay Sethi.

Security among others is one reason why only a few companies leverage enterprise mobility solutions to drive competitive advantage and deliver business transformation.
