Acer accepts 35000 customers were hacked, sensitive data leaked

The hacker did not access login in details but the e-commerece transactions includiting credit and debit card details were accessed for over a year

In a letter issues to its customers, Acer Service Corporation has admitted that a massive security breach occurred in their systems. The official letter agreed that an “unauthorized access by a third party” occurred on the ecommerce sites. The company accepted being vulnerable throughout a large period of approximately a year. As per the official letter the company admitted third part involvement from period of  May 12, 2015 and April 28, 2016.

 

Largely, customer’s cared details, including card numbers, customer name and address along with CVV number were exposed.

 

As per the media reports, 34,500 customers were hacked in US, Canada and Puerto Rico.

How the third party accessed the Dell systems is yet to be investigated and the company has outsourced cyber security experts in the case.
